5 Fresh Inventions that will Change the Game in Architecture Design
This week we take a break from the local Thai Industrial Design focus to take a look at some cool new inventions that are starting to impact architecture globally. The beauty of architecture design is that it is always subject to change and innovation thanks to new materials, designing equipment, and fresh imaginations. Although there have been many innovations in the past few years, there are six that really stand out not only for their overall design and potential usefulness, but also in their potential for changing the way that architects design and create new structures.
3 Doodler
This combines the elements of a 3D printer with a pen that lets you make three-dimensional sketches in space. The ability to create such an image quickly is of great benefit to architects and designers so that they can demonstrate their creations in an easier to grasp manner.
Apple Pencil
Apple’s latest innovation with the well established tablet screen thanks to its new pencil is getting the attention of architects as well as illustrators and others looking for a precision digital drawing device. The Apple Pencil offers the subtlety of the graphite pencil on pap
er which means that you can make thin to fat lines with marks that can be blurred and then erased if needed. This combination of hand drawing with the features of CAD computer software makes the Apple Pencil and iPad Pro a must-have device for architects as it can be synced with many different devices.
Drone Ports
Ever since Amazon revealed their plans for drone deliver, other companies such as Google has also made plans for this type of service. However, it is third world countries like Rwanda where drone ports are now being set up to transport food and other essential materials for living. The simple, modular design that boasts arched structures makes drone ports a very important addition to third-world countries.
Star Apartments
Created for Skid Row Housing Trust, a non-profit group in Los Angeles, architect Michael Maltzan designed a highly innovative apartment complex for the homeless community. The complex offers 102 apartments, ground floor medical clinic, running track, classrooms, and a garden. However, it is the incredible design that encourages interaction and the construction process of using prefabricated units placed atop each other that is the real innovation.
Volvo Solar Pavilion
This incredible architecture design won the “Switch to Pure Volvo” completion thanks to its combination of a lightweight structure that is very versatile. A combination of carport and charging device for the Volvo V60, it can also fold down to fit into the truck of the vehicle. Add to it the smart control system running the solar panels and you have one incredible device. There is little doubt that the future will unlock many new directions in architect design that will allow for even greater innovation that will change our world.
